For nearly three decades, Best Choice Plumbing & Heating has been a trusted name in Philadelphia and beyond. Established in 1996, the company has grown from a smaller operation in the Bridesburg section of the city to a multi-location powerhouse serving Philadelphia and surrounding areas and South Jersey, down to the shore. The company was founded by Bob Huttenlock’s father while Bob was still in high school. From an early age, Bob immersed himself in the trade, working whenever he had the chance. By the early 2000s, after obtaining his Master Plumber license at just 21 years old, he took the reins of the company full-time. With a commitment to quality, community involvement, and an unwavering dedication to tackling the toughest plumbing challenges, Best Choice has set itself apart in the industry.

Best Choice Plumbing & Heating operates with a core mission: to be there when customers need them most. As we all know, emergency calls can’t wait. Bob explains, “We can’t be of any help to our customers if we don’t pick up or have a technician to dispatch to their home or business. Our offices are open from 7am to 9:30pm, so there is always someone in office between those hours. Then we take after hours calls, but you will always get a live person on the phone, it doesn’t go to an answering machine.” The company’s 24/7 service model ensures customers get the help they need, no matter the hour. Their technicians arrive prepared, with fully stocked trucks that enable them to handle even the most challenging plumbing issues efficiently.
With a team of approximately 75 employees, Best Choice offers a wide range of services, including plumbing, drain cleaning, heating, air conditioning, and some construction. The company has even developed some of its own buildings.

Best Choice Plumbing & Heating has relied on Spartan Tool equipment since the company’s inception. Their arsenal includes Spartan 1065, 2001, 300, and 100 machines, as well as older models like the Spartan 200—that they refer to as the “crab machine.” More recently, they’ve incorporated Urban Warrior Jetters into their trucks, significantly enhancing their ability to handle large-scale drain cleaning and commercial and industrial projects.
The Urban Warrior jets has played a large role in city sewer work. “We’ve been subcontracted by the city to clear out sewers, and the Urban Warrior has allowed us to be able to do that,” Bob notes.
Of course, drain cleaning always comes with its fair share of surprises. Journeyman plumber Donald Toy, who started as an apprentice with Best Choice in 2015, and has worked his way up to being one of the leaders of Best Choice, recalls some of the unexpected finds he’s encountered. “I’ve pulled everything out of drains—from dead rats to mop heads to OxiClean containers. Pretty much anything you can think of. Every time I think I’ve seen it all, I find something new.”
