Crafting Careers: Exploring the World of Skilled Trades

Crafting Careers:
Exploring the World of Skilled Trades

The first Wednesday in May is National Skilled Trades Day! On this day, we recognize the invaluable contributions of skilled tradespeople to our communities and economies. From carpenters to electricians, welders to plumbers and drain cleaning techs, these professionals play a vital role in building and maintaining the infrastructure that sustains our daily lives.

To mark this occasion, we decided to do something a little different. Rather than focusing solely on our own perspective, we reached out to some of our customers to get their insights. We asked them to share their experiences and answer some common questions about the trades.

The result? A wealth of knowledge straight from the experts themselves. Whether you're considering a career in the trades, interested in learning more about a specific skill, or simply curious about the world of craftsmanship, you're in for a treat.

What do you love about the trades?

Pros to joining a skilled trades profession?

Typical day in your field?

Misconceptions and reasons we have a skilled trades shortage?

Why should people look into a skilled trades profession?

As we celebrate National Skilled Trades Day, we extend our heartfelt thanks to all who contributed to this special project and, more importantly, to all skilled trade workers around the world. Our society thrives because of their dedication and expertise, shaping our world in ways we often take for granted.

Imagine a world without skilled tradespeople—no buildings, no infrastructure, no electricity, no plumbing. It's a sobering thought. Yet, despite their indispensable role, the number of tradespeople is declining.

To anyone considering a career switch, we urge you to look into the skilled trades. It's a rewarding path where you can make a tangible impact every day. And to those already in the trades, we salute you for your hard work and commitment. You are the backbone of our communities, and our world would be nothing without you.
