Mitch and his team were recently put to the test when faced with a colossal roadblock that would require careful engineering and specialty equipment. Mitch Wright Plumbing was called by a residential customer in Germantown (Memphis), TN who was experiencing slow drains. Upon investigating the situation, the plumbers found extensive root infiltration in the home’s main sewer line. They also discovered that the house had an old clay pipe that was collapsing and needed total replacement. Due to the condition of the pipe, relining was not an option for these homeowners. There were also several large, mature trees in the front of the home, coupled with a large landscaped berm forming a natural water barrier. Clearly, traditional approaches to trenching and replacing the sewer pipe were not possible.

Mitch knew this was a job for the Spartan UnderTaker, our trenchless pipe replacement tool. The Spartan UnderTaker flawlessly pulled the new pipe through the old clay pipe – something thatUnderTaker would have been nearly impossible without the proper equipment.

In less than three hours, over 90 feet of failing clay sewer main was replaced with a new 4-inch HDPE pipe. Mitch Wright Plumbing and the Spartan UnderTaker helped the homeowner avoid thousands of dollars in landscaping repairs. Even more impressive, the home’s occupants continued to use their sinks, showers, and bathroom as the plumbing techs performed repairs on the line! While this was great for the homeowners, it is also a great solution for commercial properties, such as supermarkets, where a complete closure would mean the loss of big money.

See how the UnderTaker was able to help the shop service this customer in a fast and affordable way in the photos below.

Success stories like this make Mitch and his son Mickey greatly appreciated by all who work with them.

“I could talk all day about Mitch and Mickey,” says Matt Hitchman, who works with both father and son as a Territory Manager for Spartan Tool. “They have such a great attitude toward their customers and employees. (They) always look to make the quality of their work better and ease customers’ stress.”

Join us in congratulating Mitch Wright and the whole gang at Mitch Wright Plumbing on their past and future success. It is an inspiring story of a successful family business to be celebrated by all in our field!
