K/C Plumbing was founded in March of 1982 by Heath’s dad, Chris, and a business partner, which means K/C plumbing is celebrating its 35th year of business! The owner of the business where Chris previously worked told him that there was no better machine than a Spartan. Chris took his advice and bought a Spartan Model 1065 and a Model 100 to start the business, which serves east Texas from their office in Henderson, TX.

Heath has been involved with the business his entire life; at 4 years old he helped clear his first drain by sitting on the air pedal while his dad ran the machine! Since then, he worked in the business during summers and holidays, learning the ropes from his dad. In 2002, Heath went to work for his dad full time. Then in 2013 he bought out his dad’s business partner, and Heath and his dad are now 50/50 owners of the company. Heath says his most memorable moment on the job was when K/C Plumbing was named Henderson’s Best Plumbers for 2014-2015 and again for 2015-2016 by Henderson and Ruck Counties!

Since the start of the business, they have added more Spartan machines so that Heath and his Dad each have a stocked truck. Each truck has a Spartan Model 1065 and a Model 100. Two of those are the original cable machines from when the business opened in 1982 and are still in use! Heath said there has been a lot of cable run through those machines, but they are still going strong!

Heath and Chris also have a Model 81 that they share, depending on the jobs for the day. “We are full service” says Heath. “New construction, existing structures, commercial, residential…just about any type of job.”

Heath’s dad has been doing drain cleaning since 1976, and Heath says it is really good working with his dad. “Some people can’t work with their friends or family. A lot of the time we’re together all day, every day. He has taught me a lot over the years.” Heath has a vision for the future of the company. “I’d like to bring in some new technology.” First on his list? A jetter. Heath would like to offer a maintenance program to restaurants where K/C Plumbing would clean their lines on a regular basis. That would also make them the first drain cleaning business in Henderson with a jetter.

What would Heath tell someone who wants to get into the drain cleaning business? “Plumbing is an honest living. You meet new people every day and every call is different.” He also likes that their Territory Manager, Brad Howder, comes to see them on a regular basis. “His truck is fully stocked.” If they need something, Brad’s got it.

Heath sums it up best when he says “I couldn’t imagine using anything but Spartan. It keeps us up and going.” We’re glad we can help, Heath.

Please join us in congratulating K/C Plumbing on 35 years in the business, and we look forward to another 35+!
